Haskins Becker, P.C. has been fighting hard in a child custody battle to reunite a mother with her 11-year old daughter who has been living in Ghana against the wishes of her mother.

For Ivy Davis and her daughter Christina, the separation began more than six years ago when Christina was taken to Ghana in 2009 by Raymond C. Gunn, Davis’ ex-husband. Gunn, who is also the girl’s father, had custody at the time however he has since allowed Davis few visits and has refused to return Christina to the United States, despite an order by the Cook County Circuit Court to do so. On Tuesday Davis and her daughter moved one step closer to being together again as the the U.S. State Department Tuesday confirmed that they have opened a child abduction case.
